With just seconds remaining, the Lakers were trailing 118-119, but LeBron James made the game-winning shot, giving his team the 120-119 win. According to ESPN, this marks the eighth time in his career that LeBron has sealed a victory with a clutch shot.
In doing so, he tied Joe Johnson and Kobe Bryant for this accomplishment. The only player ahead of him is Michael Jordan, who has hit a game-winning shot nine times.
LeBron now has the opportunity to match and surpass Michael Jordan’s record, cementing his place in NBA history. Currently, the Lakers are in fifth place in the Western Conference, with a record of 44 wins and 28 losses after 72 games.
