Indiana Pacers forward Obi Toppin left Sunday’s 114-110 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves with right leg soreness and did not return. Coach Rick Carlisle confirmed that Toppin is dealing with a hamstring issue and will undergo imaging in the coming days to determine the severity.
“The hope is that it isn’t serious,” Carlisle said in his postgame press conference.
The injury adds to Indiana’s ongoing availability issues, as the team was already missing seven players, including starters Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard, reserve T.J. McConnell, and All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, out for the season with an Achilles tear.
With Toppin sidelined, Indiana is now missing six of its top eight players from last season’s playoff run. Before leaving the game, Toppin had contributed nine points and six rebounds. He is averaging 14.0 points per game this season, following performances of 20 points in the opener against Oklahoma City and 13 points against Memphis.
