Fenerbahce secured a 79–69 victory over Anadolu Efes in the Istanbul derby during EuroLeague Round 6, but head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius voiced frustration over the lack of fan turnout for such a marquee matchup.
“Guys, one thing, and I can’t lie — there’s not a full gym here in Efes,” Jasikevicius told EuroLeague TV after the game. “Efes has a great team this year, and they’re facing the defending champions.”
He went on to note the recent excitement around Turkish basketball, adding: “The Turkish national team returned about a month and a half ago with huge hype and an amazing performance. Yet we’re not selling out in Ulker Arena, and Efes isn’t selling out either. I know it’s not the answer you were looking for, but that’s the truth.”
With the win, Fenerbahce improved to 3–3 on the season, while an injury-hit Anadolu Efes slipped to 2–4.
