Seven months after their first meeting, Badou Jack and Noel Mikaelian are set to clash again, headlining a December card in California for the WBC cruiserweight title.
Jack (29-3-3, 17 KOs) returned from a 26-month hiatus in May to defend his WBC belt against Noel Mikaelian (27-3, 12 KOs) on the Canelo-Scull undercard, retaining his title via a controversial majority decision. Shortly afterward, the WBC ordered a rematch following a successful appeal lodged by Mikaelian’s promoter, Don King.
The rematch will take place on Saturday, December 13, at Ace Mission Studios in Los Angeles, as part of Steve Bash’s 12-fight card billed “Championing Mental Health 2: Rematch Season.”
In the co-main event, two-time national amateur champion Brook Sibrian (8-2, 4 KOs) faces Gloria Munguilla (8-2, 0 KOs) for the vacant WBC International light-flyweight title.
Undefeated prospects Angel Lozano (7-0, 5 KOs) and Samvel Gandilyan (7-0-1, 3 KOs) will also appear, aiming to maintain their perfect records in the light-heavyweight and lightweight divisions, respectively.
Another fighter to watch is the towering Deni Davtian (4-0, 3 KOs), a 6’4” super-lightweight from Ukraine, who will compete in his first six-round bout, with an opponent yet to be announced.
Finally, Isaac “Lil’ Devil” Anguiano (9-1-1, 4 KOs) will contest the only other scheduled bout beyond four rounds. The Californian bantamweight suffered his only career defeat at 19, losing to current IBF #12 flyweight Abraham Perez, and will look to rebound in this fight.
