After Fabio Wardley’s thrilling victory over Joseph Parker, another British heavyweight is eager to step into the spotlight. David Adeleye, 14-2 (13 KOs), who fought Wardley in October 2023, sees plenty of opportunity for high-profile bouts following the Ipswich fighter’s edge-of-the-seat win at the O2 Arena.
Adeleye, who watched the main event alongside the likes of Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois, reflected on Wardley’s performance.
“You can’t switch off against Wardley,” he said. “Even though Parker never went over, he had a barrage of punches. He persevered, dug deep, kept throwing shots, and look what he done.”
With Wardley now a front-runner to challenge undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk in 2026, Adeleye believes the Ipswich heavyweight deserves the shot.
“He deserves one,” Adeleye commented. “It’ll be a good fight because he throws his shots a bit unorthodox. They come from different places, so it’ll be a good fight.”
Adeleye, who boasts a 93% KO ratio from 16 bouts, is also looking to keep busy in 2025. After two fights already, he expects to return in December and is open to domestic showdowns, including a potential clash with fellow unbeaten British talent Moses Itauma, 13-0 (11 KOs).
“Don’t mind,” Adeleye said of facing Itauma. “It goes back to what the management, agents [and] lawyers say. I would say yes to anybody.”
With a big year ahead, Adeleye is clearly hungry for more action — and more opportunities to make his mark in the heavyweight division.
