Rising British prospect Giorgio Visioli is aiming to take the next step in his career as he prepares to face Joe Howarth at London’s O2 Indigo. The pair will headline a Matchroom Boxing card on December 17, which also features a compelling clash between British cruiserweights John Hedges and Ellis Zorro.
Visioli, 9-0 (6 KOs), enters the main event as a strong favourite. Trained by Mark Tibbs, the 22-year-old showcased his skills with a shutout points victory over James Wilkins during his US debut earlier this month. Now, he faces another 8-round test against Howarth, 14-1 (4 KOs), a solid lightweight managed and trained by fan-favourite Dave Allen. While Howarth is a capable opponent, Visioli looks set to continue his rise as one of British boxing’s brightest talents.
The co-main event pits English champion Hedges, 11-0 (3 KOs), against former British title challenger Zorro, 18-3 (7 KOs). Zorro, 33, proved his toughness with a competitive showing against Aloys Junior in July, and Hedges, 23, hopes to honor the late Ricky Hatton, his former friend and trainer, with a statement victory.
The rest of the Matchroom card features a lineup of unbeaten prospects, including Tiah Mai Ayton, Taylor Bevan, Emmanuel Buttigieg, Adam Maca, and debutant Connor Mitchell, promising an exciting night of emerging talent.
