The highly anticipated rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is drawing near, and boxing legend Lennox Lewis has shared his thoughts on the fighters’ current forms.
In an interview with IFL TV, Lewis praised Usyk’s excellent condition but expressed concerns about Fury’s current state. Despite this, Lewis believes Fury has the ability to defeat the Ukrainian.
“Yes, Fury can beat Usyk. I think Fury will look back on this fight and realize there are a few things he needs to address, and he’ll do them. Usyk is a phenomenal fighter with a great mindset. His country is at war, so when he steps into the ring, he’ll still feel like he’s in a battle.
Fury knows what he has to do. He’s been at rock bottom, he’s been on top, and now he’s at a low point again. But he knows what it takes to rise back to the top. He knows the path. This will be a great fight, and Fury wants to be champion again,” said Lewis.
In their first encounter, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision to claim the WBC heavyweight title.
The undercard for the December 21 boxing event in Riyadh has also been announced, with the Usyk-Fury rematch headlining the night. Earlier, Tyson announced that he had begun training in Malta.
