Unbeaten British cruiserweight Pat Brown will make his long-awaited American debut this Saturday night, continuing his rapid rise through the professional ranks.
The popular Manchester native — who turns 26 on November 11 — takes on experienced Dominican fighter Felix Valera (24-8, 21 KOs) at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, marking his first bout outside the United Kingdom.
Brown signed with Matchroom Boxing in November last year, shortly after representing Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympics. At the time, promoter Eddie Hearn hailed him as an “arena filler” and a “future superstar.” Now, U.S. boxing fans will get their first look at the 6’3” power puncher.
Under the guidance of trainers Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis, Brown has needed just nine rounds to dispatch his first four professional opponents — two six-round contests and two scheduled for eight — all ending in explosive fashion.
For his fifth outing, Brown steps up to a 10-round contest against the seasoned Valera, 37, who will look to test the young contender’s stamina and become the first man to take him past the fourth round.
Valera, 1-1 so far in 2025, earned a victory over Angel Yomar Mateo Arias in April but dropped a points decision to former U.S. amateur standout Tristan Kalkreuth in July. A veteran of the sport, Valera once challenged Dmitry Bivol for the WBA Interim light-heavyweight title in 2016, going the distance despite being dropped twice. He has also faced world-level opposition including Sullivan Barrera, Maxim Vlasov, Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, Aleksi Papin, and Michal Cieslak.
The Brown vs. Valera clash will feature on Matchroom’s seven-fight card, headlined by Lenier Pero vs. Jordan Thompson. Thompson, 32, returns to the ring after a two-year layoff following his fourth-round defeat to IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia.
Despite the tougher test and longer distance, expectations remain high for Brown to deliver another emphatic performance in his U.S. debut.
