A major test lies ahead for Moses Itauma. It was officially announced today that the 20-year-old British heavyweight has been assigned a mandatory challenger — 44-year-old Kubrat Pulev — for an upcoming WBA title bout.
Both camps now have 30 days to finalize negotiations, including financial and legal details. If no agreement is reached within that time frame, the fight will proceed to a purse bid.
In recent months, there was speculation that Itauma might face Oleksandr Usyk, but that potential matchup is now off the table, at least for the foreseeable future.
Itauma has already fought twice this year, earning first-round knockout victories over Mike Balogun and Dillian Whyte. The young fighter currently tops the WBA heavyweight rankings, and a win against Pulev could further cement his rise in the division.
