Last night, the undisputed light heavyweight world title fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol took place. Beterbiev emerged as the victor, but the decision has ignited significant controversy. Following the judges’ ruling, Turki Alalshikh voiced his discontent and expressed his intention to organize a rematch between the two fighters.
In the match, Beterbiev showcased his trademark aggressive style, landing powerful punches, while Bivol utilized a tactical approach to control the ring. After Beterbiev was declared the winner, many—including experts, professional fighters, and prominent Saudi sports figure Turki Alalshikh—voiced their disagreement with the outcome.
Alalshikh described the bout as one of the greatest in the last 20 years but expressed his view that the result was unjust. He stated he would work towards arranging a rematch between the two boxers.
“I believe this was one of the greatest fights of the past 20 years. However, in my opinion, the result was unfair. These two fighters are like brothers to me, but I think Bivol won by two rounds. I will focus on trying to organize a rematch. If they agree, we will make it happen,” Alalshikh said.
Additionally, Alalshikh confirmed the date for the rematch between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua. Considering the typical two-month intervals between major boxing events, a potential date for the Bivol-Beterbiev rematch may be anticipated. The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is set for December, followed by the Dubois-Joshua rematch in February 2025. Thus, the Bivol-Beterbiev rematch could likely take place around April to May 2025, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
