Last month, Venezuela’s Angelino Cordova (19-0-2, 12 KOs) and Puerto Rico’s Yankiel Rivera Figueroa (7-0-1, 3 KOs) battled to a draw while competing for the vacant WBA interim flyweight title. Since neither fighter secured the belt, both have now entered the WBC flyweight rankings, with Cordova ranked at #3 and Rivera, known as ‘El Doctorito,’ placed at #6.
In bantamweight action, Yoshiki Takei (11-1, 9 KOs) suffered a surprising knockout loss to Christian Medina, losing his WBO title. This defeat has led to Takei’s inclusion in the WBC rankings at #9.
Murodjon Akhmadaliev (14-2, 11 KOs), after a failed attempt to dethrone Naoya Inoue and losing his WBA interim title, has joined the WBC super-bantamweight rankings at #10.
Three-division world champion John Riel Casimero (34-4-1, 23 KOs) has been removed from the WBC’s bantamweight rankings (#14) due to inactivity.
Interestingly, Sam Goodman, despite reappearing in the super-bantamweight rankings, has made a new entry at featherweight, ranking #7 after his recent loss to reigning WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball.
At featherweight (126 lbs), former WBO champion Robeisy Ramirez (14-3, 9 KOs) has been dropped from his #14 ranking after not competing during 2025.
Maryland’s Jordan White (19-2, 12 KOs), who recently exited the super-featherweight division (#8), was defeated by Rene Tellez Giron at lightweight earlier this month.
Hayato Tsutsumi (8-0, 5 KOs) has entered the 130-pound division at #14, although his spot may soon be at risk as he is set to challenge Jazza Dickens for the WBA interim title.
At super-welterweight, significant changes shook up the rankings. Brandon Adams (26-4, 16 KOs) pulled off an upset over Serhii Bohachuk (26-3, 24 KOs), entering the rankings at #6 and causing Bohachuk to drop from #2 to #8. Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) and Erickson Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs) also climbed five spots, now sitting at #3 and #5, respectively. Meanwhile, former #3 Jesus Alejandro Ramos Jr. (23-1, 19 KOs) has moved up to middleweight, where he holds the #5 ranking.
A major highlight was Terence Crawford’s iconic victory over Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) this past Saturday. Alvarez, who has held the WBC title since 2020, has now re-entered the WBC rankings as the #1 contender. With Crawford reportedly considering a move down to middleweight or even retirement, the WBC title is expected to become vacant soon, potentially setting up Alvarez to challenge the winner of Mbilli vs. Martinez II for the belt next year.
Lastly, Albert Ramirez (22-0, 19 KOs), previously ranked #3 at light-heavyweight, has been removed following his WBA interim title win. New Jersey’s Khalil Coe (10-1-1, 8 KOs) has been added at #15 in the 175-pound division ahead of his upcoming bout with Jesse Hart next month.
