Stephen Bunting has had a fantastic start to the new season. After already securing victory at the Bahrain Darts Masters just a week and a half ago, he came close to another win, only losing to Rob Cross in the final of the Dutch Darts Masters.
Bunting began the year in strong form with a semifinal finish at the World Darts Championship, and he followed that up with a standout performance by winning the Bahrain Darts Masters. In the final in Sakhir, he proved too strong for Gerwyn Price, claiming yet another impressive title.
Last weekend, Bunting appeared on track to win the second tournament of the 2025 World Series of Darts. However, in the final of the Dutch Darts Masters, he faced a particularly strong Rob Cross, who ultimately triumphed with an 8-5 victory.
If Bunting is superstitious, the signs are already pointing to more success this year. After all, Luke Littler followed a similar path in the first two tournaments of the 2024 World Series of Darts. He won in Bahrain, and like Bunting, fell short in the final in Den Bosch. Later that year, Littler went on to win the Premier League Darts—could Bunting replicate that feat? We’ll find out at the end of May when the final takes place at London’s O2 Arena.
