PDC Order of Merit Update: Gerwyn Price Gains Two Places After Double Win; Van Gerwen’s Major Title Yields No Movement

There were only minor changes in the PDC Order of Merit following last week’s events, as the World Series of Darts Finals — a non-ranking tournament — had no impact on the standings. Instead, the only adjustments came from the two Players Championship events held in Hildesheim, Germany, where several key performances influenced the rankings.

Gerwyn Price Shines in Hildesheim

Among the top-tier players, Gerwyn Price was the standout performer. The Welshman captured the title at Players Championship 26, defeating Gian van Veen 8–5 in the final. He followed that up with another strong showing, reaching the final at PC 27, though narrowly losing to Joe Cullen in a deciding leg.

Thanks to these back-to-back finals, ‘The Iceman’ jumped from 9th to 7th in the Order of Merit, overtaking Chris Dobey and Rob Cross, who each dropped one spot.

Humphries Still Leading, Littler Static, Van Gerwen Quiet

At the top, Luke Humphries remains in a commanding lead with £1,809,750. However, ‘Cool Hand Luke’ struggled in Hildesheim, suffering a second-round exit on Tuesday and a first-round exit on Wednesday.

His closest challenger, Luke Littler, did not compete in either tournament, remaining second with £1,537,000. Michael van Gerwen, still comfortably third with £746,500, only entered one of the two events and was eliminated in the first round, making no progress. Aside from Price’s climb, the rest of the top 10 remained largely unchanged.

Movers Below the Top 10

Joe Cullen was another major beneficiary of the Hildesheim doubleheader. His win at PC 27 helped him jump three spots from 29th to 26th, displacing Daryl Gurney, Andrew Gilding, and Ritchie Edhouse, who each dropped one position. More importantly, Cullen’s victory puts him on the verge of securing a place at the upcoming World Grand Prix, a crucial opportunity to earn more ranking points and prize money.

William O’Connor had a strong showing at PC 26, reaching the semifinals before narrowly falling to Price, 7–6. The Irishman climbed two places, landing at 45th in the rankings.

Bradley Brooks also made a push, reaching a quarterfinal and moving up four spots from 74th to 70th. Still, he remains £33,500 behind Thibault Tricole, who currently holds the important 64th spot — the typical cut-off for major televised events.

Big Jumps Further Down the Rankings

The most significant movement came further down the Order of Merit, with several players making noticeable climbs thanks to strong performances:

  • Michael Unterbuchner made the biggest leap of the week, jumping 18 places from 151st to 133rd after a quarterfinal finish at PC 27.
  • Alexander Merkx also reached the quarterfinals at PC 27, moving up 12 spots from 132nd to 120th.
  • Danny van Trijp, another Dutchman, impressed by reaching the last 64 on Tuesday and the last 32 on Wednesday. He rose 11 places, from 137th to 126th.

But the standout story belongs to Joe Hunt. The Englishman, who had just £1,000 in prize money before last week, reached the last 32 on both days — earning £3,000 and quadrupling his total earnings. This massive effort catapulted him up 47 places, from 198th to 151st, the largest single-week jump on the Order of Merit.

While the headline names didn’t see major changes at the top, the Players Championship doubleheader in Hildesheim gave plenty of lower-ranked players a chance to climb — and with more ranking events ahead, every round continues to count.
