The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) has announced that Austrian darts player Rusty-Jake Rodriguez has been provisionally suspended following a failed doping test conducted during Players Championship 24 on Monday, August 25, 2025.
Rodriguez, 24, was subjected to a routine random test during the event. The results returned abnormal findings, prompting immediate action from the DRA. As a result, he has been provisionally suspended and is prohibited from participating in or attending any DRA-sanctioned events until further notice.
According to DRA disciplinary procedures, such provisional suspensions are standard practice when a potential anti-doping violation is identified. The suspension will remain in effect while a full investigation and disciplinary process are carried out. Depending on the findings, further sanctions could be imposed.
Rodriguez, the younger brother of fellow professional Rowby-John Rodriguez, has been considered one of the most promising talents on the PDC circuit. In recent years, he has emerged as a key figure among a new generation of European players aiming to leave their mark on the sport. However, this development casts uncertainty over both his immediate career and long-term aspirations.
Under DRA regulations, Rodriguez has the right to appeal. He may contest both the test results and the decision to impose the provisional suspension. Should he choose to appeal, an independent panel will be appointed to review the case.
The DRA has stated that no further comments or details will be provided while the investigation remains ongoing.
