The 2025 FEI Para Driving World Championship kicks off this week, with three athlete-and-horse pairs proudly representing the U.S. Para Driving Team after successfully passing the first horse inspection on Wednesday morning.
The U.S. competitors are:
-
Tracy Bowman of Martinez, California, riding her own Albrecht’s Hoeve’s Lars, a 2009 Welsh Pony Gelding (Orchard Red Prince x Castenrayseweg Saartje).
-
Diane Kastama from Arroyo Grande, California, driving Freedom, a 2010 gelding owned by Koos De Ronde.
-
Deborah Marcuccilli of Honeoye Falls, New York, paired with Tjibbe, a 2004 gelding also owned by Koos De Ronde.
Supporting the team are Chef d’Equipe Marcie Quist, Team Veterinarian Laura Werner, and Team Leader Steven Morrissey.
The U.S. team has a strong track record at the FEI Para Driving World Championship, having secured the team silver medal at the 2023 event. Notably, Tracy Bowman and Albrecht’s Hoeve’s Lars are the defending individual gold medalists in Grade I, having claimed top honors in both 2021 and 2023. This year, they aim to make history with a third consecutive win.
The championship is held alongside the FEI Driving European Championship at PSG Lähden. The competition begins with the dressage phase on Thursday, September 4, followed by the marathon phase on Saturday, September 6. The event will conclude with the cones phase and award presentation on Sunday, September 7.
