Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has described his side’s upcoming FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 match against Benfica as a “balanced game,” emphasizing the strength of the Portuguese side and the competitive nature of the tournament.
The Blues are set to take on Benfica on Saturday night after both teams secured qualification from the group stage—Chelsea defeating ES Tunis and Benfica overcoming Bayern Munich in their respective fixtures.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Maresca praised Benfica’s stature in European football and expressed his expectations for a closely contested encounter.
“I think Benfica, not only in this competition but in general, always show they are a big club in Europe,” Maresca said. “At this stage and under these conditions, it’s difficult to see a major gap between teams. I’m quite sure it’s going to be a balanced, tough game.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 9:00 PM Nigerian time.
