Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has insisted his focus remains solely on Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, despite uncertainty surrounding his future.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Tuesday’s crucial clash, Chelle downplayed speculation about his job being at risk if Nigeria suffers a defeat.
“This is football. I’m only focused on this game and my players,” the Malian tactician said. “If the end of the story comes, I’m prepared for that.”
Nigeria currently sit six points behind South Africa in Group C, though they’ve earned seven points from their last three matches in the qualifiers.
With growing pressure and a must-win scenario on the horizon, Chelle remains firmly concentrated on the task at hand.
