Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hinted that summer signing Federico Chiesa may make his debut against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Reds secured Chiesa’s transfer from Juventus in August, beating out competition from Barcelona after the Italian winger failed to agree to a new contract with the Serie A club. While Chiesa watched Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Manchester United from the stands, he has yet to feature on the pitch.

“Chiesa has trained three or four times,” Slot said. “We’ll see how he does today as we have more than 20 players to choose from.”
Slot emphasized the importance of player performance in determining the starting lineup, noting, “This league is different, and it depends on what they show. We’ve been strong with one game a week, and everyone wants to play, so they need to demonstrate quality and work rate.”
Liverpool will be missing Harvey Elliott, who fractured his foot while training with England’s Under-21s.
“Harvey’s injury is a big disappointment for both him and us,” Slot added. “He had a strong pre-season and would’ve played a lot, but now it’s an opportunity for someone else. His availability is a blow, but he’ll work hard to come back strong.”
