Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has hinted that Viktor Gyökeres may become the club’s primary penalty taker this season.
Traditionally, Bukayo Saka has shouldered the responsibility for spot-kicks, occasionally handing over to captain Martin Ødegaard.
However, with Gyökeres arriving from Sporting CP this summer, that hierarchy could be shifting.
When asked by ESPN Brazil who the team’s best penalty taker is, Arteta responded without hesitation: “Gyökeres.”
Last season, Gyökeres impressively converted 19 penalties, showcasing his reliability from the spot.
By comparison, Saka has missed just two of the 14 penalties he’s taken in club football outside of shootouts.
