Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed criticism over his continued interest in signing players from Chelsea, following the recent acquisition of Noni Madueke.
Madueke became the eighth player to make the move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates during Arteta’s tenure. However, the signing sparked backlash from some Arsenal fans, still skeptical after previous arrivals like Raheem Sterling failed to make a significant impact.
Responding to the concerns, Arteta defended his transfer strategy during a press conference.
“Probably because they have some great players—and a lot of players,” Arteta said. “We try to focus on the players we want to sign, regardless of the club they come from.”
Speaking specifically about Madueke, Arteta expressed optimism about what the young winger will bring to the squad.
“With Noni, we’re very excited. He needs a bit of rest now, but he’ll be with us soon and ready to show what he can add to the team.”
