Manchester City has struggled this season, leading many experts to point to the aging of the squad as a potential cause. However, Bernardo Silva has strongly responded to such claims.
The Portuguese midfielder challenged journalists to specify which players they consider “aging” and questioned why discussions about age and performance arise whenever the team experiences a few tough months.
“Tell me, which players? Name the names. These people just don’t understand football. I’m 30, Kovacic is 30. You’re not talking about guys who are 36. We have six or four bad months — and suddenly we’ve become old, not good enough?” Silva said. “Over the last eight seasons, we’ve won six Premier League titles, and now, after four weak months, we’re old men? That’s what I’m asking you. You asked me a question, I answered.”
Currently, Manchester City sits in fifth place in the Premier League standings with 48 points after 29 rounds, just one point behind fourth place.
