The World Cup 2026 qualifying matches are underway across Africa, but not all fans will have the opportunity to watch their national teams play live.
Details: The reason for this is that due to various circumstances, nine of the matches during the current international break are being held in Morocco.
Four matches are scheduled to take place in Morocco today, with another five matches to be held on March 24 and 25:
March 21:
- Burkina Faso vs. Djibouti
- Burundi vs. Côte d’Ivoire
- Ethiopia vs. Egypt
- Niger vs. Morocco
March 24:
- Central African Republic vs. Mali
- Madagascar vs. Ghana
- Ethiopia vs. Djibouti
March 25:
- Burundi vs. Seychelles
- Comoros vs. Chad
The relocation of these matches to Morocco is due to factors such as ongoing military conflicts, logistical challenges, and the unavailability of stadiums that meet the required standards for international play.
This arrangement also serves as excellent preparation for Morocco, which will host both the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and the 2030 World Cup.
