The Italian national team will begin their World Cup qualification campaign in June. After missing the last two global tournaments, the ‘Azzurri’ are approaching this qualification with a renewed sense of determination.
Gianluigi Buffon, now a representative of the Italian Football Federation, emphasized that Italy needs to adopt a bit of “arrogance” to remind the world that they are serious contenders for the World Cup title.
“We’re aiming to win the World Cup—that’s our main goal. June will bring a big game, but at some point, you need a bit of healthy madness, a bit of arrogance, to declare that we are Italy,” Buffon said.
“Just like after the European Championship in France, I hope this serves as a strong example for us ahead of our match with Norway. We must present ourselves with the mindset: ‘We want the World Cup, no matter who stands in our way,'” he added during a press meeting.
