In recent seasons, Liverpool has struggled to assert itself as a serious contender for the Premier League title, with Manchester City and Arsenal leading the charge. However, club legend Jamie Carragher believes a specific player could help Arne Slot’s squad reclaim their status as title challengers.
In his column for The Telegraph, Carragher pinpointed Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as the key player who could make a significant impact for Liverpool. Palmer’s recent performances have already changed Carragher’s perspective on Chelsea’s position in the league, and he asserts that if Palmer were to join Liverpool, they would have the necessary elements to win the Premier League.
“At the start of the season, I didn’t see Chelsea finishing in the top four because there was no team spirit or connection with the fans. Palmer is the main reason my view has changed. Now they can do it, and given the scale of their investments, that’s where they should be.
If Palmer were at Liverpool, Slot would have a much better chance of ending his debut season with a league title. Palmer is that good — right now, his goals-per-game average is higher than legends like Didier Drogba and Diego Costa.”
