Morocco claimed their third African Nations Championship (CHAN) title in eight years with a 3-2 victory over Madagascar in Saturday’s final.
The thrilling final took place at the Moi International Sports Centre, where Madagascar took an early lead through C. F. Manohantsoa in the 9th minute. However, Morocco quickly responded as Youssef Mehri equalized, and Oussama Lamlaoui gave the North Africans the lead before halftime.
Madagascar leveled the score in the second half through T. N. Rakotondraibe, but Lamlaoui struck again late in the game to seal the win for Morocco.
This victory marks Morocco’s third CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) title, having previously won the tournament in 2018 and 2020.
