Chelsea have decided to keep striker Nicolas Jackson at Stamford Bridge, halting his proposed loan move to Bayern Munich.
The decision comes in the wake of an injury to young forward Liam Delap, who is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks. The England international sustained the injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.
According to football transfer expert David Ornstein, via The Athletic, Chelsea informed Bayern that Jackson would no longer be available for a move, despite the two clubs having agreed on a £13 million loan deal just a day earlier.
Before Delap’s setback, Jackson was on the verge of joining the Bundesliga giants. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca had already acknowledged the club’s lack of depth up front and admitted they would need to find a swift solution in light of Delap’s absence.
With Jackson now staying, the Blues hope to maintain stability in their attacking lineup during the early weeks of the season.
