Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has called on his teammates to remain focused and work hard as they prepare to face Fluminense in the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Tuesday.
The match will see Santos go head-to-head with former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, who joined the Brazilian side last summer after a successful spell at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Santos acknowledged Silva’s influence on his development during his early days at Chelsea.
“Thiago Silva was so important for me during my first season here,” Santos told Chelsea’s official website. “He is very important to Chelsea and the fans as well. But tomorrow he is my opponent, so we have to work hard against him.”
Santos emphasized the significance of the semi-final fixture, describing it as a major opportunity for the team. “It’s a big game against a strong team. We must prepare well, work hard, and make sure we’re ready,” he added.
The match between Chelsea and Fluminense is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. Nigerian time.
