Next season, the English Premier League will have at least five teams competing in the prestigious UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals has helped England claim the top spot in the UEFA rankings for this season. As a result, England will earn an extra spot in next season’s tournament.
Thanks to this ranking, England’s top four teams will secure automatic qualification, and the fifth-place team will join them in the competition starting in the fall of 2025.
What’s more, this is not the maximum England can achieve. If either Arsenal or Aston Villa fails to qualify for the Champions League via the Premier League but wins the tournament this season, they’ll still earn a spot in next year’s competition.
Similarly, if Manchester United or Tottenham wins the UEFA Europa League, they will also gain automatic entry to the Champions League group stage, meaning England could potentially have up to seven clubs in next season’s tournament.
