The Nigerian national football team is currently searching for a new head coach, and many experienced professionals are throwing their hats into the ring. Among the candidates is Domenec Torrent, who is best known for his role as Pep Guardiola’s long-time assistant.

According to reports from Score Nigeria, Torrent is one of 40 international coaches who have applied for the position. His application has been carefully reviewed by the Nigerian Football Federation, which took into consideration his extensive coaching background and his notable achievements working alongside Guardiola.

Torrent has had an illustrious career in coaching, particularly due to his collaboration with Guardiola at several top European clubs. He was part of the coaching staff at Barcelona, where the team enjoyed considerable success, winning multiple La Liga titles and the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy. His partnership with Guardiola continued at Bayern Munich, where they also captured numerous Bundesliga titles and other prestigious trophies. Torrent further solidified his reputation as a key assistant when he joined Guardiola at Manchester City from 2016 to 2018, during which the team won the Premier League, showcasing their dominant style of play.

In other football news, Monnapule Saleng, one of the standout players for South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club. His potential departure has generated significant interest within the football community.
