Cristiano Ronaldo’s quest for a major trophy with Al-Nassr remains unfulfilled after the Saudi Super Cup final ended in heartbreak on Saturday.
The match against Al-Ahli finished 2-2 after regular time, leading to a tense penalty shootout.
Ronaldo gave Al-Nassr the lead by converting a penalty — marking his 100th goal for the club. However, Franck Kessie leveled the score for Al-Ahli before halftime.
Later, Marcelo Brozovic put Al-Nassr ahead again, but Roger Ibañez responded with another equalizer, forcing the game into penalties.
In the shootout, Al-Ahli held their nerve, with goalkeeper Édouard Mendy making a crucial save from Al-Nassr’s Abdullah Al-Khaibari. Wenderson Galeno then calmly scored the winning penalty, securing Al-Ahli’s first Super Cup triumph since 2016.
