England midfielder, Declan Rice has celebrated the inclusion of his Arsenal teammate Gabriel Magalhães in the PFA Team of the Year.
The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, with the Team of the Year unveiled. Arsenal had three representatives, while Liverpool dominated with four players named in the XI.
Gabriel, a consistent performer at the heart of Arsenal’s defence for the past three seasons, took to Instagram to mark the achievement. His post was met with high praise from Rice, who responded with a chant in honour of the Brazilian centre-back.
“You’ll fall in love, I know you will, our number six is the king of Brazil! Our centre half, he’ll give you hell, our wall at the back is Gabriel! Ole ole, ole, ola!” Rice commented.
The former West Ham captain, who has also played a crucial role in Arsenal’s campaign under Mikel Arteta, spoke at the event about the team’s recent title challenges.
The Gunners have narrowly missed out on the Premier League title in each of the last three seasons—twice finishing behind Manchester City and once behind Liverpool.
