Manchester United has parted ways with Erik ten Hag and is set to bring in Sporting CP’s head coach, Rúben Amorim, as his replacement. An agreement has reportedly been reached between United and Amorim, but the transition may face delays.
The English club is ready to pay a transfer fee of $10 million for Amorim’s move; however, the process has stalled due to the coach’s notice period at Sporting. This requirement extends over “several weeks, not days,” complicating a quick transition.
Without a mutually agreed contract termination between Sporting and Amorim, he will not be in charge for United’s upcoming home match against Chelsea on Sunday, November 3.
There is a possibility that Amorim could officially begin his role at United following the international break. The Red Devils are scheduled to play Ipswich Town away on November 24, which may serve as the debut for their new head coach.
In a related update, Sporting has acknowledged receipt of United’s official approach regarding Amorim’s appointment. The coach has accepted United’s offer and expressed commitment to their project.
