Napoli endured a devastating 6–2 defeat against PSV Eindhoven in the third round of the UEFA Champions League, marking one of the club’s most humbling European nights.
According to renowned statistics expert MisterChip (Alexis), Napoli became the first Italian side since 2015 to concede six goals in a Champions League match. The last such instance came a decade ago, when Barcelona demolished Roma 6–1.
Elsewhere, Atlético Madrid made unwanted history of their own. For the first time in UEFA Champions League history, the Spanish side conceded three goals in just six minutes. Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring in the 64th minute, with Viktor Gyökeres netting twice shortly after in the 67th and 70th minutes.
In another Group Stage clash, Bayer Leverkusen hosted Paris Saint-Germain. Defender William Pacho scored the opening goal — a strike that will go down in the history books, though further details on its significance have yet to be confirmed.
