Today marks the conclusion of a pivotal era for Senegal’s national football team, which began in 2015. The Senegalese Football Federation has officially informed head coach Aliou Cissé that they are ending his tenure.
This decision follows increasing dissatisfaction with the team’s recent performances and results.
According to Taggat, the federation is looking to prioritize local coaches over foreign candidates in their search for Cissé’s successor.
Aliou Cissé took charge of the Senegal national team in 2015, leading them to two consecutive World Cup appearances and securing their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021. However, Senegal was knocked out in the Round of 16 at AFCON 2023.
