Thomas Müller has announced that he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, sharing the news himself on Instagram.
The decision, which was first reported by SPORT BILD and BILD through the Bayern Insider podcast, has now been confirmed by Müller, who wanted to personally address the situation.
In a message to fans, Müller wrote: “After many rumors about me, I want to take this opportunity to clarify the situation. Despite the limited minutes on the field, I still thoroughly enjoy playing with the team and fighting for titles. I could very well continue in this role next season.”
He continued: “However, the club has decided not to negotiate a new contract for the upcoming season. While this doesn’t align with my personal wishes, I understand that the club must follow its convictions. I respect this decision, which I’m sure wasn’t made lightly by the club’s management.”
Müller is Bayern Munich’s all-time record holder for most appearances, having played 743 matches, scored 247 goals, and provided 273 assists throughout his legendary career at the club. These remarkable numbers cement his status as one of the most influential figures in the club’s history.
