Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that striker Liam Delap will be sidelined for at least six to eight weeks following an injury sustained during their 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday.
Delap, who was forced off just 14 minutes into the match due to a hamstring injury, was replaced by Tyrique George. Speaking to the media, Maresca, formerly of Leicester City, confirmed the expected recovery timeline.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Maresca said,
“Liam Delap is expected to be out for 6 to 8 weeks because of this type of injury.”
In response to the injury, Chelsea halted Nicolas Jackson’s proposed loan move to Bayern Munich, choosing to keep the Senegalese striker at Stamford Bridge.
Delap joined Chelsea this summer from Ipswich Town in a deal worth around £30 million, following an impressive season in which he scored 12 league goals in 37 appearances for the Tractor Boys.
