Italy Under-21 head coach Carmine Nunziata has advised Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei to consider leaving Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window if he doesn’t gain more playing time under manager Enzo Maresca.
Casadei joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in 2022 but made his senior debut only in January after loan spells at Reading and Leicester City, where Maresca was his manager last season.
This year, despite turning down a loan move in the summer, he has yet to make a Premier League appearance and has only featured in the Carabao Cup and Europa Conference League.
Nunziata emphasized the need for regular playing time, stating, “Last year, Cesare had a good first part with Leicester, but since moving to Chelsea, he hasn’t played much.
I advised him to see how things go until January, but if he’s still not playing, it’s right to explore other options. The key is for the players to get game time, and if he finds a team in Italy, that would be even better.”
