Former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has shared that Mikel Arteta thanked him for his contributions to the club following his departure this summer.
Ramsdale, who left Arsenal to join Southampton after losing his starting spot to David Raya, spoke with Arteta last week. Both expressed their gratitude to one another.
Ramsdale, speaking to talkSPORT, acknowledged that while Arteta made a tough decision, he did not hold it against him. “I spoke to him last week, and we both thanked each other. I’m grateful for what he did for me during my time at Arsenal, and he thanked me for my contribution,” Ramsdale said.
He continued, “Managers sometimes have to make difficult choices as they aim to push the club forward, such as striving for Champions League qualification and trophies. Arteta’s decision was part of that process. We’re still in touch, and I’m looking forward to playing against Arsenal in a few weeks.”
