On May 17, Wembley Stadium will host the FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester City, while the Eurovision Song Contest final will take place the same evening in Basel—prompting concerns over a scheduling clash for UK broadcasters.
According to the Daily Mirror, the BBC, which airs Eurovision in the UK, is pushing for the FA Cup final kickoff to be moved from 7:00 PM to 3:00 PM local time. The concern is that the second half of the football match would overlap with the start of the Eurovision broadcast, which draws hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide.
However, the FA Cup final is set to be broadcast by ITV, not the BBC, and ITV may resist altering the schedule to accommodate a rival network. Still, with both events aiming to maximize viewership, a compromise is likely to be reached.
Reminder: It was previously reported that Manchester City’s first-choice goalkeeper Ederson may be nearing a departure from Pep Guardiola’s squad.
