Manchester United legend, Patrice Evra has issued a strong warning to current manager Ruben Amorim, emphasizing the high-pressure environment at Old Trafford and how little time is afforded to underperforming managers.
Evra, speaking to Stake in an interview quoted by Sportskeeda, urged the Manchester United board to show patience with Amorim but admitted that such patience is rarely granted at the Premier League giants.
Since the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United have appointed five permanent managers and four interim bosses in just nine years—highlighting a pattern of inconsistency and managerial turnover at the club.
“With United, you never know. One day they make you dream, the next they break your heart,” said Evra. “It’s about consistency, not Instagram moments. Football is a jungle. When results don’t come, the manager is always the first to go. But if you keep changing the chef, the soup will never taste right. Give him time, but at United, time is expensive.”
The comments come after Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag and appointed Ruben Amorim as head coach in November 2024. Amorim’s first season in charge was disappointing, with United finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.
Adding to the calls for stability, England international Marcus Rashford recently encouraged the club to adopt the long-term managerial strategies seen at Manchester City and Liverpool, where faith in managers like Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp has led to sustained success.
As the 2025/26 season approaches, pressure is mounting on Amorim to deliver results quickly—despite growing voices calling for patience and consistency.
