In the final match of the regular MLS season today, Inter Miami hosted the New England Revolution in a game played solely for pride, with no impact on the standings for either team.
The visitors struck early, taking the lead in the second minute as they found the back of Inter Miami’s net. By the 34th minute, New England had doubled their advantage.
However, the hosts responded just before halftime. In the 40th minute, Luis Suárez capitalized on a pass from Héctor Martínez and fired the ball into the net. Three minutes later, Suárez completed his brace with an assist from Yannick Bright.
In the 58th minute, Inter Miami’s star player, Lionel Messi, entered the match. Moments after his introduction, Messi was involved in a crucial play, providing a pre-assist to his former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba, who set up Benjamin Cremaschi to put Miami ahead.
But Messi wasn’t finished yet. Between the 78th and 89th minutes, he scored a sensational hat trick, with all three goals assisted by his former Barcelona teammates. Two were set up by Luis Suárez, while Jordi Alba assisted Messi’s final goal.
The match concluded with a dominant victory for Inter Miami.
