Francesco Totti, the legendary former Roma captain and World Cup champion, had glowing words for Argentine midfielder Nicolás Paz. In an interview with TyC Sports, Totti made a bold statement: “He’s going to become one of the best players in the world.”
Totti didn’t stop there—he even encouraged his old club, Roma, to consider signing the 20-year-old. “I’d put my money on someone like Nico Paz. I really like his style—he’s unique, inventive, and has a cheeky flair on the pitch,” he said.
Paz, who is currently playing for Serie A side Como under manager Cesc Fàbregas, has been getting consistent game time and turning heads with his performances. Real Madrid, the club where he developed, sold him with a buy-back clause starting at €8 million, which increases by €1 million each year. Totti believes that was a wise decision: “Real Madrid played it smart. Sending him to Como to gain experience—especially in a tough league like Serie A—was the right call. He’ll return to Madrid and become a top player.”
This season, Paz has tallied six goals and six assists in 29 Serie A appearances. He made his senior debut for Argentina last October against Bolivia and was recently called up for March’s international break.
