Less than 24 hours before the UEFA Nations League match between England and Greece, a tragic event unfolded with the death of Greek player George Baldock. In response, the Greek football federation requested a postponement of the match, but UEFA has now issued an official decision.
According to the Daily Mail, which cited Greek media, UEFA has rejected the request, confirming that the match will go ahead as planned. Both teams will honor Baldock by wearing black armbands, and a minute of silence will be observed before the game.
Baldock, 31, was found dead on the evening of October 9 at his home, reportedly drowning in a pool. Born in England, he began representing Greece internationally in 2022.
