Spanish racing driver Carlos Sainz has expressed his strong belief that Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal deserves to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Sainz praised the young Spain international as an outstanding talent and currently the best player in the world.

The Ballon d’Or winner will be revealed on Monday in Paris.

Yamal is among the leading candidates for the prestigious individual award, alongside stars such as Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Barcelona’s Raphinha, and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe.

Speaking to the media (via ESPN), Sainz said: “The Ballon d’Or? I’m a Real Madrid fan, but I would give the award to Lamine Yamal.

“He plays for Barcelona, but he’s also a key player for the national team. “He’s absolutely excellent and deserves the award because he is the best right now.”
