Today marked the end of the regular MLS season, with Inter Miami’s earlier confirmed championship victory and their place in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup already secured. FIFA President Gianni Infantino attended the MLS Champions Award Ceremony to officially announce that the opening match of the 2025 tournament will take place at Inter Miami’s home ground.
All MLS teams played their final matches of the season tonight. Inter Miami clinched the title ahead of schedule and secured their spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as the champions of the host nation.
Gianni Infantino congratulated Inter Miami on their triumph during the award ceremony and confirmed the team’s participation in the Club World Cup, adding that the opening match will be held at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
“I want to tell you three things. Firstly, congratulations on winning the Supporters’ Shield! Secondly, you have earned the right to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup! And thirdly, you will be playing the opening match at Hard Rock Stadium in front of 65,000 fans!”
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will take place from June 15 to July 13, featuring a new expanded format with 32 teams from various confederations. Inter Miami is the 31st team to qualify, with the final spot reserved for the winner of the 2024 Copa Libertadores.
