Ahead of their crucial showdown with Real Madrid, Barcelona have been handed a timely boost as Alejandro Balde and Marc Casadó return to the squad following injury layoffs. However, head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that neither will start the match—and the same applies to Robert Lewandowski.
“I don’t think Balde or Lewandowski will start. Maybe they’ll feature in the second half,” Flick said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Lewandowski recently returned to action after missing four games through injury, making a brief 30-minute appearance in the Champions League loss to Inter. His current fitness level still isn’t sufficient for a starting role.
The Matchday 35 La Liga clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid kicks off tomorrow, May 11, at 16:15 Central European Time.
