Barcelona director Deco has affirmed that Lamine Yamal has the potential to become a key figure and reference for the club for many years to come. However, he opted not to draw comparisons between Yamal and the club’s legendary former player, Lionel Messi.
Messi, who was the face of Barcelona for many years before his move to Paris Saint-Germain, set a high standard for future stars. Discussing Yamal’s future, Deco stated on Rac1, “Lamine can definitely be a central figure and reference for this club for several years.”
He added, “I’m not going to compare him with Messi or anyone else. We cherish having Lamine at our club, and we are committed to nurturing and appreciating his talent.”
