West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá is set to face trial in March 2025 over betting-related allegations, as reported by The Sun.
The club is reportedly displeased that the trial will occur during the season, fearing it could affect Paquetá’s performance. He is accused of intentionally receiving yellow cards in matches against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds, and Bournemouth, dating back to November 2022.
Furthermore, the Brazilian has twice been accused of non-compliance with the investigation’s procedures. If convicted, Paquetá could face a lifetime ban from football.
The English Football Association charged the 27-year-old with four instances of match-fixing related to bets. Despite the allegations, West Ham has voiced its full support for the player.
