Manchester United face fresh injury concerns ahead of their upcoming Premier League showdown with rivals Manchester City next Sunday.
Manager Ruben Amorim confirmed his worries after both Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount picked up injuries during United’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Bruno Fernandes sealed the win with a late penalty, but the celebrations were tempered by setbacks to two key players.
Speaking after the match, Amorim expressed his concern:
“It was hard to lose a player like Cunha and Mason Mount – Mason played around 30 minutes carrying an injury.”
When asked about the extent of the injuries, the United boss admitted uncertainty:
“I don’t know if they’re long-term problems, but I’m concerned. They’re very important to us, so we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll check them. We need these guys to stay fit if we want to remain competitive.”
United will now anxiously monitor both players’ conditions with the high-stakes derby just days away.
