Manchester United have decided against allowing Kobbie Mainoo to go out on loan this summer, despite the midfielder’s request to leave Old Trafford temporarily.
Mainoo reportedly informed the club’s hierarchy during a meeting on Thursday that he wants a loan move before the transfer window shuts next Monday. However, according to The Athletic, United have declined his request, making it clear they will not authorize a loan deal.
The 20-year-old was left out of United’s recent Premier League matches against Fulham and Arsenal but did feature in their Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town on Wednesday.
Unhappy with limited Premier League minutes under manager Ruben Amorim, Mainoo — who has been with the club since joining the academy at age nine — has also drawn interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid in recent days.
